Looking for inexpensive family fun this fall?  Check out our ideas for FREE fall fun for kids and families in and around Brentwood:

1. Visit a playground in Brentwood

We are so lucky to have so many great parks right here in Brentwood.  And, thankfully, the weather here lets us get lots of outside play time well into the fall.  Some of our family's favorites are:

Alta Park 1970 Andalucia Ln Brentwood

Garin Park 231 Lawrence Ln Brentwood

Monarch Park 760 Bella Dr Brentwood

Creekside Park 1010 Claremont Dr Brentwood

2. Visit the children's play area at The Streets of Brentwood

If you have a little one, you'll want to check out the play area located at the end of the shopping center near the Shady Willow Ln entrance. Geared towards children 5 and under, the area is entirely enclosed by a gate, is covered with turf, and has quite a few animal figures little ones can climb on. I have had many coffee dates here with friends where we bring our little ones to play while we catch up.

3. Go for a walk on Marsh Creek Trail

The Marsh Creek Regional Trail is a paved trail that extends from Creekside Park in Brentwood to Big Break in Oakley and is approximately 6.5 miles long. Along the way you'll be able to stop at many parks and greenbelts to break up the walk with some play.  Depending on what part of the trail you're on, you may see farms, plenty of wildlife, and, of course, the creek.

4. Visit one of our local libraries

We have some of the best around!  When you visit the Brentwood or Oakley libraries, not only can you check out books, but there are computers available to play games, you can check out one of their many story times or other events, and they even have themed bags you can check out from the children's area that contain books and other toys and puzzles related to the theme.

For a complete list of story times and events at the Brentwood,Oakley, Rio Vista, Dixon and Clarksburg libraries, visit our Macaroni KID Brentwood events calendar!

5. Go on a hike at Big Break

Big Break Regional Shoreline is part of the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, and is a great place to take kids for a nature walk.  Big Break is home to a variety of species, particularly birds and fish.  The paths are either dirt or gravel so bring your walking shoes, and some binoculars for a fun outing.

Plus, their Visitor's Center offers frequent children's activities, so be sure to check our Macaroni KID Brentwood events calendar and go on a day where you can participate in one of their activities before or after your nature walk.

6. Attend a FREE Trunk or Treat, or other Halloween event

Brentwood and the surrounding areas are known for having so many family friendly Halloween events, you'll find something to do each weekend leading up to Halloween and they're almost always free to attend!  Check our events calendar for the most up-to-date details on when and where these are happening.

7. Go for a hike at Round Valley Regional Preserve

Round Valley is one of the most beautiful local places to enjoy the outdoors, but during the summer it can get hot.  So once fall comes and the weather cools down, it's a great time to go visit and walk the trails.  Located at: 19450 Marsh Creek Road, Brentwood, CA 94513
