Here are some local ideas for things to do in the Brentwood area this summer! Scroll down and click highlighted text for more info on each item on the list. Don't forget to get the free printable option to stick on your fridge too!
- Head to a local Splash Pad. Check out our favorite here.
- Let the kids stay up past midnight one night. Heck, it might throw them off their schedule for the next couple days but they will be talking about it for months.
- Have a family game night. Bring out some board games or teach the kids some classic card games or get crazy with something more interactive like Pictionary or Twister.
- Attend a Concert in the Park. Downtown Brentwood Starry Night Series runs Fridays (beginning June 14th) starting at 7PM.
- Go to a free kids workshop at Home Depot. They are offered the first Saturday morning of the month from 9AM-noon.
- Watch an outdoor movie.
- Make a summer craft. Get creative and do something on your own or check out Michael's Crafts for one of their low cost events.
- Go to a local Farmers' Market. Check out our event calendar for scheduled markets and see our article of Kid-friendly things to do at the Brentwood Farmers' Market.
- Wash your car with your family. Have some fun and get a clean car in the process. Total win-win.
- Visit a local library. For upcoming free events and story-times happening at the librarys visit our calendar.
- Sleep in a tent. It could just be in your backyard or sign up for the 3rd Annual Great American Campout.
- Bike around town. Did you know you could be rewarded for your rides too? Check out this fun bike challenge put together by 511 Contra Costa.
- Go for a hike. Check out Round Valley Regional Preserve for some local trails.
- Make breakfast in bed. Or, better yet, have the kids make you breakfast in bed.
- Visit a swimming lagoon. My local favorite is Contra Loma Swimming Lagoon.
- Roast Marshmellows. Take it a step up and make S'mores
- Pick fruit to eat at a local u-pick
- Jump on a trampoline. Don't have your own? Head to Rockin' Jump
- Go to a local farm. Some of our favorites are First Generation Farmers or Smith Family Farm.
- Watch a drive-in movie.
- Attend a playdate with friends. Looking to meet new friends? Attend one of the free playdates hosted by Fit4Mom East Contra Costa.
- Enjoy a Frozen Treat. One of our favorite things to do is hunt down Sip and Scoop California and head to whereever they are.
- Watch a baseball game. Go see the Giants or A's or head over to the Stockton Ports for a Minor League Game.
- Have breakfast for Dinner
- Make a bird feeder.
- Do a Random Act of Kindness. Not much is better than making others feel special.
- Play Bingo
- Go to a classic theater. We are so lucky to have Delta Cinemas right in our Downtown Brentwood area. Classic yet playing all the latest and greatest (and not to mention totally affortable)
- Visit a Regional Shoreline. We like to head to Big Break Regional Shoreline for some of their kid-friendly free events.
- Splash around at a Water Park. We love the Brentwood Aquatic Center for somewhere local but fun.
- Paint a picture. Get creative at home or head somewhere local.
- Rent a Kayak. Did you know there are local places right here on the Delta to rent and go on an adventure?
- Visit a family-friendly winery. One of our favorite local winery's is Campos Family Vineyard. Delicious, family-friendly, and close!
- Have a movie marathon. Watch a movie. Then another. Then another... you get the idea.
- Attend a fair.
- Enjoy a parade. The City of Brentwood will have their 4th of July Parade again this year!
- Explore the outdoors somewhere. A park, a trail, your backyard... get outside and soak up that sunshine.
- Visit an amusement park.
- Go to a festival.
- Try something new to eat.
- Watch the sunset.
- Play on a slip-and-slide.
- Plant flowers.
- Make your own Pizza creation. Get creative at home or head to somewhere like Melo's where you get to do the creation but they do the cooking (and cleaning!)
- Eat food from a food truck. Visit one of our local food truck events in Antioch or Discovery Bay.
- Go to a Children's Museum.
- Find a local tour.
- Fly a kits.
- Unplug for one full day. No electronics. No social media. YOU. CAN. DO. IT!
- Stargaze.
- Make a blanket fort.
- Go bowling.

- Play in the sprinklers.
- Go fishing.
- Go on a picnic.
- Celebrate your City. Explore around town and find a new spot you have never been to.
- Go to an art gallery.
- Eat corn on the cob. Brentwood corn. 'nough said.
- Find a double rainbow. Ok, I know that mother nature has to be on your side for this one but hey, it could happen.
- Have a dance party. Right now, do it.
- Swim until nightfall. Get all wrinkly and have to come in because it's dark. And then do it again another day.
- Sleep in (maybe because your exhausted from swimming from nightfall. Or maybe just because you want to).
- Find a sunflower. Better yet, find a bunch of them.
- Do a cartwheel. Try it. Or a somersault. But let's see your inner gymnast come out.
- Make popsicles. Maybe have a kid-friendly version and then adult ones too... if you know what I'm sayin'.
