Description

BIG BREAK: Explore nature at your own pace and in your own way. This program is inclusive for all abilities, offering something for everyone! Travel along paved trails to visit stations to touch fur, listen to birds, draw wildlife, sit on benches to scan the water, or paint the view. Drop in anytime between 10am and 1pm.

  • Discover Mammals of the Marsh: Pelts and Skulls
  • Backyard Bass: Cast a fishing pole on land
  • Relax on the pier: Binoculars, taxidermy birds & chairs
  • Pond Observations: What do you notice?
  • Art Area: Watercolors, rubber fish prints
  • Mobile Visitor Center: Hands-on nature items
  • Mobile Fish Tank: Meet Delta fish
  • Park Horses: Meet a safety patrol horse
  • *NEW* Stream Tables: Feel the sand and flow of a river


Scheduled Programs

Storytime (with ASL Interpreters and Spanish Translators)

  • 10:30 am and 12:15 pm ·
  • The storytime is approximately 30 minutes
  • Naturalist Hike (ASL Interpreters and Spanish Translators available if needed)
  • 11:15 am ·
  • The walk will take approximately 45 minutes

  • What to wear Dress comfortable for outdoor activities. The weather is projected to be between 60-70, but anything can happen.
  • What to bring Water, snack, and sun protective gear. We will also have water and sunscreen for folks to use. ·
  • When to arrive This is a drop-in event from 10am-1pm.
  • Will there be any program guides or people giving tours? We provide a mixture of self-guided and naturalist-led activities. At every station, there is staff present to help folks engage. In addition to stations, we have a Naturalist-led hike and a Naturalist-led storytime. ASL Interpreters and Spanish Translators will be available at both programs.
  • How many ASL Interpreters and Spanish Translators will be there? There will be (2) ASL interpreters and (2) Spanish Translators on-site. They will be wearing tags saying “I am a translator.” They will be available to all of the attendees as needed.
  • Will the visitor center be open? Yes, the Visitor Center will be open from 10am-1pm.
