This week we decided to venture one town over to visit one of our favorite Oakley parks, Civic Center Park. Located right next to the Oakley Police Station and City Hall, and across the street from some restaurants and shops, this park is centrally located and easy to find (although for some reason when I type it into the maps app on my phone it doesn't find it.)
This location is also where you'll find a lot of Oakley's community events including movie nights, concerts in the park and food truck nights. It's safe to say this is a great place to have on your radar for family fun in Oakley.
Here are some of the highlights from our most recent visit:
- It's fully gated. Being that this playground is not too far from some busy roads, this location really does need to be fully gated and it gave me peace of mind knowing my little one wasn't able to take off towards the street.
- There are restrooms available. Just outside the gated playground area you'll find a restroom. Although it should be noted the sign on the restroom says open from 11am-4pm so plan your trip accordingly.
- It was very clean. I wasn't expecting that considering it seems to be a high traffic area with community events.
- The play structures are designed for all ages and abilities and my almost 3 year old enjoyed playing on pretty much everything there.
The downside:
- I wish it had more shade. There are a couple of small shade structures but in the middle of the afternoon heat I could see it being pretty miserable without adequate shade.
- Once you get inside the gated playground area there isn't really anywhere to sit. Any benches are outside the playground so it would be nice to have more seating for parents inside the playground area.
We will definitely be back soon! And maybe even visit during one of the community events!
