This place we call home is known for being a great place to raise a family. A great community, great local businesses, and lots of family friendly events. All of which make this the perfect place for local Realtor Jessica Lopez, better known as "Homes By JLo" to work her business.
She's a mom with a hospitality background who is bringing her special touches to the local Real Estate market. You may have even been to one of her events before. Everything from Halloween Costume Parades, to Photos with Santa, and Giveaways supporting local businesses. I learned so much from our conversation about how she makes this magic happen and, if you don't already follow Jessica, you're going to want to after hearing from her.
What inspired you to start your business?
I got my license as I was newly pregnant with my first and we had just bought a house and moved to Brentwood. I had been working as Corporate Event Planner in Hospitality for years but knew I needed something that fit motherhood a bit better. Having a dad in new build construction my entire life, working for Remax in college holding open houses, and a mother in law in real estate- I knew this would be a great fit for me. Entering motherhood and a new career at the same time was a wild ride but I have loved every moment.
What do you love most about what you do?
My favorite part of what I get to do is helping deserving families achieve their goals and the genuine friendship that blossoms from our experience together. Whether it's their first home, their move up home as their family grows, or maybe they are moving out of area to be near family. Whatever their goal is- I'm here to be IN it with them. It's all quite personal for me too and I care deeply for each family I help.
What tips would you give someone looking for a professional in your field?
When looking for a Realtor- I'd strongly recommend they look for a few things:
1) Make sure that agent is a local expert. Someone based 30-40 minutes away will not know the local nuisances of that area like a Realtor that lives in that market.
2) Check their experience. How many years have they been in real estate? How many deals do they do in a year? Numbers aren't everything BUT you can get an idea of their knowledge which is helpful when they are negotiating on your behalf for your biggest asset!
3) Pick someone that makes you feel comfortable and supported. Buying or selling a home is an intimate process- working with someone that understands your goals and helps educate you each step of the way will make it so much less stressful.
What do you love about working in the Brentwood area?
I knew I'd love working with people, walking beautiful homes, and having a schedule that I could (attempt) to work around my motherhood. What I didn't fully expect was just how amazing the community and connections around me would be. It's been the most beautiful surprise being able to connect with other moms, local small business owners, and so many amazing people in this sweet town we call home.
Anything exciting coming up for your business you'd like to share?
I am so excited for what we have this year. We try to give back to this community that has given so much to us by hosting some sort of event or giveaway almost every month of the year! Yes, its a lot but it's our way of showing the people around us how much we appreciate their support. Be on the lookout for a few new events this year, along with our regular staple events + giveaways.
If you had a day off and were staying local, what would you love to do around town?
Our typical local weekend consists of grabbing a coffee from Chrome coffee to enjoy while cruising the Farmers Market (big bonus if it's a Makers Blvd weekend too!) We snag some local produce and goodies, stop in to the boutiques, and grab the kids a treat from Sip and Scoop to bring over to Brentwood Craft while mom and dad get an adult treat ; ). We'll cruise over to the park to play and pop in to the library for some new books. I'm just so in love with our Downtown area that can keep us all entertained and happy for an entire afternoon!
Do you have any special offers for our readers you'd like to share?
When families work with me to sell their home- I stage it for FREE. I'm a Certified Stager and personally stage all my listings. It's been a huge add value for my clients in that my goal is to stage with their family comfort in mind while also getting them the most money and offers possible.
I can see why her and her team have won The Best of Brentwood Awards for The Best Real Estate Team and The Best Realtor for the Past 2 years! If you're looking for someone to connect with about Real Estate, Jessica is your girl.
