A Love Letter to Brentwood

Sharing the Valentine's Day love with our community

By By Krista Naldjian, publisher of Macaroni KID Brentwood February 7, 2024

When I decided to take the role of Publisher of Macaroni KID Brentwood, one of the first things I did was post in our local Facebook group asking people to share why they chose Brentwood to call home. Reading through all the answers solidified what I already knew to be true about this wonderful place we get to call home.  The common threads that came from their answers were: it's a safe, affordable place to raise a family, and the community is unlike any other.

On any given day you can find the parks filled with kids playing, residents supporting local small businesses, and a full calendar packed with family friendly events that build community in this place we call home.  So I thought, in honor of Valentine's Day coming up, why not write a love letter to share what this community means to me (and hopefully you see yourself in some of my words too.)

Dear Brentwood,

Today I drove down Oak st. and watched people coming and going from the small businesses that line your street.  Then I drove past City Park where I saw kids playing and crossing the street to head to our beautiful library.  I continued on driving past the Liberty Football stadium and reminisced about the Friday Night lights and bleachers lined with parents and alumni there to support our town as the Liberty Lions squared off against the Heritage Patriots.  And I felt grateful.  Grateful that, although you're not perfect, I couldn't think of a better place to raise my kids.

You hold a special place in my life.  You remind me that, although the world may feel crazy at times, I know that people are actually really good because I get to witness it every day right here in my community.  I feel so lucky that families like mine have so many opportunities to spend time together right here where they live and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Brentwood, as you continue to grow I hope that the heart of this place stays the same.  That we continue to look out for each other and remember why families were drawn to you in the first place.

Our community is unlike any other and, while our kids will grow and possibly move on, I hope they all look back on their time here and smile.

With love and gratitude,

  Krista
